Reading John 6: 27-40
For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.John 6:38, NIV
Jesus came that he might do the Heavenly Father’s will. He was sent that the Love of God be known, and the price be paid for our sin, allowing forgiveness and eternal life. But that is not an easy path for anyone, even in the garden of Gethsemane on the night of his arrest Jesus is asking whether there might be another way, but there was not. In this asking he shows his humanity, for since the beginning of time we have often sought to do things another way from what the Father intended, the difference being that Jesus is also fully divine “I am…” he says in this passage. Jesus always follows the Father’s will, but how often do we do so?
Why not spend some time in prayer offering to God times you have gone your way.
