Reading John 6: 1-15
When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, ‘Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.’John 6:12, NIV
I wonder how much of our food is wasted. Perhaps you exercise good stewardship of fridge and pantry, buying just what you need, cooking what is right, and leaving nothing on the plate. It has been estimated that as much as 328,000 tonnes of bread is thrown in the bin in the UK each year. This is not good stewardship of what the Lord has provided. The 12 baskets gathered up represent all of the children of Israel – there is enough food in the world but many are in hunger, what part will you play?
